Trials, Tribulations, Celebrations

Welcome to the Sandhills.

We’re so glad you found us.

We live on the far edge of a large farming community, an hour from the grocery store, and our website sees more visitors than our yardsite ever will. It’s a quiet life out here, but we are glad you’ve decided to look in on us.  We strive to show you our ranching way of life out here in the Great Saskatchewan of Sandhills. Our cattle spend most of their days lazily grazing side hills and open prairie. We like our animals to be happy and healthy, focusing on herd and environmental health is an everyday priority. We are not the exception, people and places just like us are raising the beef you find in your grocery store.

The sandhills we call home are a rough sea of mixed native prairie grasses and brush growing atop sand dunes. Occasionally, erosion coerces a hill of pure, fine sand to erupt above the grasses, shining as the sun hits it. The Sandhills may appear useless, too rough to cultivate or build on but they are home to many species and the cattle that we keep here are working for the environment. Cattle are the ultimate upcyclers. Cattle consume vegetation that humans aren’t able to and convert it into healthy proteins for you and me. All of our ranching decisions are made with the health of our animals and our land at heart.

The Ranch Academy

The Ranch Academy is designed to benefit both employers and employees alike. Drawing from personal experiences, including the humbling task of searching "how to change the grease in a grease gun," I've recognized the importance of mastering those seemingly small yet crucial tasks. As an employer, it's reassuring to hire someone already familiar with essential skills, such as securing a truck to a flatbed or jump-starting a battery—skills often presumed to be common knowledge but, in reality, are not.

For those aiming to enter the agricultural sector, possessing a Ranch Academy Certification on your resume not only demonstrates your eagerness to learn but also confirms your foundational knowledge in key areas. This certification is more than just a testament to your skill set; it's a valuable asset that sets you apart in the job market, ensuring potential employers of your commitment and competence in the field.
